Hello there! It's been a while since my last written blog but James Clarke (trusty friend and web master for many years) has set us up so I can blog on the move easily! Great :) The Garden Angels are in the garden already 2 hours ahead of me in working hours today. I had a late ish one last night at 3am. This #Heapsong has been the hardest yet in terms of finding time to work on the song. So have been snatching hours when everyone Has gone to sleep! Yesterday just midnight - 3am and the day before same amount of hours. I was trying to work 'normal hours' to see some daylight on this #Heapsong but I'll likely be getting back to my through the night tricks as of today.
I've stopped worrying about being behind and given myself a few extra days on the other side so now #heapsong3 will be released around 11th October. I've been having great fun with my 'character'. Initially I thought the song would be about a local here in the village but over the last few days decided to write from the voice of all neglected spaces. My spoken voice taking on the sound of a crumbling wall. It begins as a plea from an abandoned building or neglected space/place trying to catch the attention of the passer by. Progressively throughout the song, revealing it's bitter side but trying desperately to not come across too psychotic. The disappointment from those who promised so much, the memories of past days, the mocking of animals as they shelter in the open wounds of the structures as weather has eaten away at it. the voice checks itself so as not to scare off it's audience (a passer by) to try to convince him to take her on. The voice and words are almost done. Plan to finish that today then go for goodbye drinks in the garden with Thomas, Clear Village and all Garden Angels for 6pm. Tomorrow the music begins to accompany my voice and some singing punctuations. Also news is that directly after Heapsong3 (this one) it looks like we'll be releasing Heapsong4 just a week after! Minds without fear is a song I wrote with Vishal and Shekhar for a TV show called 'The Dewarists'. Concept of the show is... Put musicians from different walks if life, into the same room in a beautiful place in India (our episode was shot near Jaipur in a once royal palace!) and see what happens! Here is the trailer for the series with our song in the background :) Our episode will be airing/streaming on 16th October. Was a completely mad four days writing/recording this song (I'm sometimes singing in Hindi too) and then filming the video 9am in 35 degree heat, lip syncing to the track we'd been working on all through the night, no sleep, blasting out the back of a truck through a sleepy Rajastani village! I love my job! More soon all. Lots of love. Gonna get back to scaring myself with 'the voice'! XxIllustrator Sarah Maycock was chosen by Imogen & Thomas. In short... Sarah's drawings will feature in the Heapsong3 video, in long.. you'll have to wait and see!
